HYDRO-COM
SENSOR CONFIGURATION UTILITY (HS0068)
This
page contains the following
OVERVIEW
The Hydro-Com sensor calibration and configuration utility allows
the Hydronix range of sensors to be configured by the user using
a PC.
The detailed user guide is available (below) in a number of languages
and provides information about the software as well as broader information
regarding moisture measurement and calibration.
You may familiarise yourself with much of the sensor functionality
and configuration settings by downloading both the user guide and
software from this page. By installing the software onto a PC most
of the configuration settings, flexibility and functionality of
the sensors can be experienced without the need to communicate with
a sensor. |

SENSOR
NETWORKING
The
sensor page shows the status of all sensors connected to the network.
It also allows users to add or remove, rename or readdress sensors
as well as to monitor sensor outputs.
Up to 16 sensors may be connected to a network, Hydro-com will show
6 simultaneously. A logging function is also available, shown below.

SENSOR
CONFIGURATION
The software may also be used for diagnostics and upgrading sensor
firmware.
The utility also includes a comprehensive help file. |

The
configuration page shown above allows the user to scale and configure
the analogue output (0-20mA (0-10V), 4-20mA). The digital input and
input/output may also be configured for such uses as high/low alarms
and automatic batch averaging by the sensor. Please refer to the Hydro-Com
and individual sensor user guide for full configurable values and
some useful recommendations. |

TRENDS
AND DATALOGGING
Trends over time may be recorded and visually displayed of multiple
parameters. These may be saved and exported to other applications
such as a spreadsheet for further analysis. The timescale is configurable.
Values include :-
Filtered and average moisture %,
filtered and average unscaled values, material and sensor temperature. |

SENSOR
CALIBRATION
All Hydronix sensors may be configured to output either a real moisture
% or a linear unscaled value of 0-100 unscaled units (scaleable).
A linear unscaled value enables a simple material calibration in any
3rd part control system.
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
The
calibration page is used to calibrate the sensor to output a real
moisture %. A number of material calibrations may be named and stored
in a database.
A unique advantage of the Hydronix digital range of sensor means that
each sensor has exactly the same measurement characteristics.
This means that is is possible to store calibration data using the
Hydro-Com software (or any 3rd part controls) and to quickly calibrate
multiple sensors (or a replacement sensor) if required by programming
calibration data over an RS485 network or simply with a PC and USB
connection.
The software contains a database of multiple calibration points for
each material. For precise accuracy and maximum quality control the
calibration page will record multiple samples and will perform a linear
regression on user selected samples.
This application is primarily intended to be used to calibrate the
Hydro-Probe II sensor measuring materials in bins or on conveyors.
In particular it will enable a user to sensibly calibrate the sensor
when only one set of calibration data is available. Hydronix can supply
default calibration coefficients for a number of materials upon request.
The software also incorporates certain calibration rules and safeguards
which will aid the user in obtaining reasonable and accurate results,
these may be disabled if required but in many cases may be of assistance. |

SENSOR
DIAGNOSTICS
The diagnostics page contains data that may help to diagnose problems
with a sensor in the field.
The frequency response from the sensor can easily be checked along
with minimum and maximum temperature values. |
| |
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
Status
flags
indicate if the sensor is reading within the set 'valid' ranges and
that the digital inputs are functioning correctly.
The facility to force the analogue output to predetermined values
is available. This is used during commissioning when matching the
sensor analogue output to a 3rd party control systems' analogue PLC
input card. It is also a very useful diagnostics tool when checking
a system.
Factory calibration data is accessible but is password protected
(see user guide) and the sensor firmware may be upgraded if required. |
