Microwave moisture measurement for sands and aggregates.

Designed for the ready-mix, pre-cast and construction industries to significantly increase accuracy of batching and slump control.

Whether materials are weighed up from bins with clam shell doors, belt feeders or vibratory feeders, the Hydronix sensors will accurately measure the moisture in flowing materials during batching.

Hydro-Probe II sensors are positioned at the point of discharge to provide optimum representative sampling. The sensor takes 25 readings per second which are continuously averaged over the period of flow.

The system is suitable for use with sand and aggregates. Highest accuracy coupled with total representative sampling, ensures correct moisture measurement (well within ±0.25%), over the widest range of moisture conditions and is virtually unaffected by pollutants and changes of particle size.

  Accurate Weighing
Good modern batching systems can weigh aggregates with an accuracy of up to ± 0.5%. If the moisture in the aggregates varies from say 2% to 10% then this 8% variation will effectively represent the limits of weighing accuracy, as water is being weighed and not dry materials. Thus real time moisture measurement will enable on-line weight correction to be made with automatic plants.

The benefits of consistent weighing enable the operator to achieve concrete mixes with consistent aggregate/cement ratios to provide vast improvements in consistency of quality, strength, colour, workability, slump control and improved customer satisfaction.

Correct Water Addition
By knowing the total quantity of water in batched materials, the on-line system will enable the batch computer to correct water addition in the mixer for the variation of water content in each mix batch, thereby ensuring consistent workability and correct water/cement ratio.
