Welcome to the world of Hydronix microwave moisture measurement. We hope you find the information you require and that the visit to our web site has been worthwhile.

Our company specialises in the research, development and design of microwave moisture measuring systems as well as other associated measuring techniques. Our head office and laboratories are located in Guildford, Surrey in the UK, conveniently accessible to Gatwick and Heathrow airports as well as to London. We also have offices representing us in the USA and Germany.

With over 20,000 systems installed in over 40 countries since our incorporation 20 years ago, we have become the established world leaders in the development and sales of microwave moisture measuring equipment for the concrete industry. The sensors and systems are designed for use on all types of concrete batch plants, for providing on line moisture measurement in the sands and aggregates, in bins or on conveyor belts, and also in fresh concrete in the mixer.

The unique digital microwave moisture sensing technique recently developed by Hydronix has proved to work very successfully with a wide variety of other bulk materials, from minerals to organic materials, such as Soya beans and corn. Increasingly our equipment is being used in applications such as animal feed plants for monitoring the moisture in the incoming raw materials as well as for controlling the moisture at critical points during the process.

In expanding moisture measurement activities, our aim is to seek out applications where there will be repeat business worldwide, potentially with a reasonable volume of sales, thereby enabling us to develop suitable sensors that meet the practical requirements of the job at a realistic price to the customer. Currently, in collaboration with another party, we are developing a sensor for use in sugar processing plants for measuring the moisture (or percentage solids) in the sugar syrup that will withstand temperatures of up to 120°C for short periods.

In the field of concrete we are developing some revolutionary concepts for the construction industry. These are to provide a non-destructive technique for monitoring the strength gain of freshly placed concrete in structures or pre-cast elements. Small sensors are placed permanently in the concrete and may at any stage be read by a hand held microprocessor that will provide a direct read out of the strength of the concrete around the sensor. This provides far more realistic information than is obtainable from conventional cube testing or any other form of non-destructive testing, which will indicate when to remove formwork, when to apply pre-stressing, when precast elements may be lifted, and many other such uses. Ultimately this technique could be used for compliance testing to ensure the concrete has attained its design.

Although we are very concerned with developing new and innovative techniques, we are equally focused on how to make further improvements to our products and, in particular, how we can further improve our service to our customers around the world. To this end, we welcome any suggestions you may wish to make – well within reason! So if you have any queries or would like any assistance please contact us.
